Ovulation induction is a set of ovarian stimulation techniques for the normal growth and development of a follicle with an egg. The main condition for the effectiveness of this method of treatment of infertility is the tubal patency and normal spermogram, which means the possibility of natural fertilization. To induce ovulation, the doctor prescribes hormonal drugs and monitors the ovarian response through ultrasound monitoring. Particular attention is also paid to the development of the endometrium (uterine mucosa) to maximize the likelihood of implantation.
The method of induction of ovulation is used for insufficiency of the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, impaired egg maturation, prolonged first phase of the cycle and delayed maturation of the egg and other factors of endocrine infertility. Quite often, induction of ovulation is combined with intrauterine insemination.
The effectiveness of this treatment is about 10-20% for one cycle, unless there are other causes of infertility.
