Laparoscopy (Greek "laparo" - abdomen, "scopeo" - inspect) - a minimally invasive endoscopic method of surgical intervention, which allows, using anesthesia, examination of the organs of the pelvis and abdominal cavity, surgical interventions against the background of pneumoperitonium (introduction СО₂ gas into the abdomen).

Laparoscopy is performed both for diagnostic and therapeutic (surgical) purposes.

Medical (operative) laparoscopy - allows:

  • to perform reconstructive (restoration of tubal patency) operations on fallopian tubes with tubal infertility;
  • to separate the adhesions (adhesiolysis) in the adhesion disease of the pelvic organs;
  • to carry out fenestration (artificial formation of perforative openings in the capsule of the ovary) at scleropolycystic ovaries;
  • to perform removal, coagulation and cauterization of endometrioid heterotopias in external genital endometriosis;
  • to remove tumors of the uterus and its appendages;
  • remove the fertilized egg to preserve the fallopian tube or remove it during ectopic pregnancy;
  • carry out coagulation or suturing of the tear sites (apoplexy);
  • sterilize the fallopian tubes for contraception.

The operation is performed under general anesthesia in the gynecological position of the patient. A special tool (probe palpator or hydraulic tube) is introduced into the uterus to ensure good uterine motility and injection of contrast solution into the fallopian tubes. The abdominal cavity is filled with carbon dioxide, and then 1-3 trocars, a video camera and surgical instruments are inserted through incisions up to 1 cm. With good lighting and the magnification on the screen, the doctor can carefully examine the abdominal cavity and perform the necessary interventions qualitatively.

Laparoscopy does not only make highly effective surgery and minimizes the risk of postoperative complications, but also significantly shortens the postoperative period, allows to refuse a great amount of medications, and quickly restore the normal activity.

Preparation for surgery: shower, pubic shave.

Required tests for the operation:

  • Blood test for RW, HIV, HBS antigen
  • Blood group, Rh factor test
  • Blood biochemistry, coagulogram - valid for 10 days
  • Blood test for sugar is valid for 10 days
  • Complete blood count is valid for 10 days
  • General urine test, feces for worm eggs
  • Flora smear (vaginal), cytology
  • ECG
  • Fluorography
  • General practitioner consultation
  • Colposcopy
